I personally have found the Atkins diet the only diet I can stick to, lose weight and never go hungry.
I eat normal meals but just substitute potatoes or pasta with lots of vegetables or salad.
It is so much easier than having to count points or calories, and the fantastic thing is I can feel the pounds falling off me even though I'm eating large volumes!
I avoid fatty or fried foods, and having lost most of the excess weight I've been carrying round, that can only be better for my health.
I feel more alert and mentally so much happier in myself.
For me it's going to be a way of life rather than a diet for life!

Hi, my name is Megan Soto and I am 16 yrs old. I'm not really overweight, Im not average, and I'm not thin but i would really love to loose at least 30 lbs. I have tried to become a vegetarian but i only seemed to be eating more junk food than healthy food. How can i loose the weight I want but in a healthy way?

Losing weight requires things like discipline, commitment and motivation.
You say that you are trying to loose weiight and you've been eating lots of junk food.
That says that you are not committed to loosing weight
losing weight is one of the hardest things to do, you have to change your eating habits and you have to give yourself enough time to get used to it.

Although the popular high-fat, low-carbohydrate Atkins diet gained some respectability after recent studies published in the New England Journal of Medicine, experts warn that the unwanted pounds are likely to return.
However, researchers who compared the effects on weight loss and cardiovascular risk factors of the Atkins plan and a traditional low-calorie diet in 2 clinical trials had good news: They found that the Atkins diet did not cause alarming increases in serum cholesterol and even reduced 1 or 2 cardiac risk factors.
It was no surprise that when people lost weight their cholesterol level did not rise (in fact, it lowered in some participants).
Also, with a diet that contains little sugar and refined starches, it was no surprise that triglyceride levels decreased.
The only surprise finding was a rise in high-density lipoprotein cholesterol among the Atkins participants.
This finding may indicate that the body compensates for a diet rich in saturated fats and cholesterol by manufacturing more of the substance that helps the arteries ward off fatty deposits.
The investigators pointed out, nevertheless, that neither of the studies was designed to determine the long-term safety or effectiveness of the Atkins regimen.
